The Experience

Walking Captain Forsyth's Route Through the Satpura Wilderness In 1857, Captain James Forsyth crossed the Satpura hills and the Pachmarhi plateau in pursuit of a rebel — and stumbled instead upon one of Central India's last great wildernesses, a landscape he later immortalised in his account, The Highlands of Central India. The Forsyth Trek retraces that same route on foot. Four nights, thirty-four kilometres, through Sal and Teak forest inside the Satpura Tiger Reserve — camping on the sandy banks of the Denwa river, pausing at hidden waterfalls and natural pools, and ending each day around a bonfire under an open sky. This is a trek for genuine nature lovers, led by resident naturalists who know this forest intimately. Ex-Bhopal · Pachmarhi, Madhya Pradesh **Campsite Features** Double-occupancy tents with two single beds and linen, one hanging lamp, two torches and two towels. Bio-toilet and shower, one unit shared between every two tents.
